Abstract:

The way of life under the influence of the market economy and the ideology of illumination, which is a product of individuality, excessive enrichment and immense competition, has gradually influenced mankind from the West. Modernity, which has felt its influence in social, political and economic life since the last period of Ottoman, has soon reflected itself in literature. The traces of modernity we are looking for in the poems of Ismet Özel, which is an important place in modern Turkish poetry, give the signs of his thoughts in his book, especially Three Hard Questions. The phenomenon of modernity, which he defines as technical, civilizational and alienation, is according to him the result of an epistemological breakdown. Modernity, which he describes in his poems with various images and metaphors, according to him, is a way of life, especially in the "city" of the body. The main follow-up of the poems we study is to calculate this way of life.
