Abstract:

Introduction and Purpose: Human immune failure virus (HIV) is a virus that can be interpersonally transmitted and that can cause an inherent immune failure syndrome (AIDS). The laboratory diagnosis uses the ELISA method and the positive results are verified with Western-Blot (WB). The third stage of this study aims to assess the HIV-positive rate in a two-year period in a hospital. A total of 59543 blood samples from the Izmir Reaction Education and Research Hospital Microbiology Laboratory have been tested with the macro ELISA system (Architect-Abbott, USA) HIV antibodies. The test results were positive or new blood requested from patients at the limit and the study was repeated with both blood. The negative results were as ‘negative’. 117 positive samples (%0.2) were sent to the İzmir Hifzısıhha Center for verification with WB. Repeated anti-HIV tests were found in 117 of 59543 blood samples (0.2%) examined retrospectively over a two-year period. As a result of their verification with WB, 48 (%0.08) were positive, 5 (%0.008) were searching, and 64 (%0.1) were negative. INTRODUCTION: In the last two years, our hospital has not seen an increase in HIV-positive rate when it is studied. It is believed that regular social training on protective measures to prevent interpersonal infection will contribute to the prevention of the spread of the disease.
