The article examines the aspects of the modal-evaluative vocabulary based on an excerpt from an article of the British newspaper The Guardian. The presence of emotional modal markers in such texts allows their authors to form a positive or negative attitude of the reader to a particular political event or personality. The relevance of this article lies in the study of political media since in the modern political environment, the transmission of new information, events, and processes contributes to the creation of a certain linguistic environment of society. With the help of lexical-semantic and cognitive-pragmatic representations in the text, the study forms a system of modal relations between the author and the reader of a political newspaper text.
