Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the perceptions of pre-school teachers about superior abilities. In this study, which was established as a quality study, a semi-configured conversation form was used. In the study, the method of measurement sampling was conducted with a total of 40 pre-school teachers who work in the official and private schools associated with the Ministry of Education in the province of Aydin using the standard sampling method. In the analysis of the interview data, the content analysis technique is applied. Research findings have shown that teachers more define superior skills by their performance, intelligence, creativity and skills dimensions. In the recognition of superior abilities, participants emphasized the need for more expert assessment. The recognition of superior skills in the pre-school period has been considered important for the academic and talent development of children. Separate educational recommendations are often emphasized with the use of additional activities in the education of highly skilled children. The use of materials and learning centers regarding the arrangements that can be made in the classroom in the education of highly skilled children has been more frequently expressed. While the number of difficulties faced in the education of highly skilled children has been expressed, however, it has been a conclusion that teachers have noted their weak assessments in terms of competence and equipment.
