Abstract:

In today's competitive conditions, companies need to use their resources in the best way and transform them into outputs in order to continue their activities in a healthy way. For this, the efficiency of the companies in the sector should be measured periodically. In this study, the efficiency scores of 20 non-life insurance companies in Turkey, for the period of 2018-2021, were calculated using the data envelopment analysis. Earned premiums and investment income were used as outputs, while claims incurred and operating expenses were taken into account as inputs. According to the results of the analysis made under the assumption of constant returns to scale, 4 companies were efficient in 2018, 5 companies in 2019, 5 companies in 2020 and 3 companies in 2021. In the four years examined, 2 companies were efficient in all years, while 12 companies were not efficient in any year. In addition, 2021 reference sets and projection information for inefficient companies were also given.
