Bu çalışmada ortaokul Türkçe ders kitaplarında (5.-8. sınıflar) kullanılan karikatür oranlarının ve türlerinin saptanması, karikatürlerin hangi becerileri geliştirmeye yönelik olduğunun belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma olarak desenlenmiş olan bu çalışmada verilarin çözümlenmesi için doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. İnceleme kapsamına Talim Terbiye Kurulunca belirlenen ve MEB tarafından yayımlanmış Türkiye’deki ortaokullarda okutulan 4 Türkçe ders kitabı alınmıştır. Çalışmada ilk olarak ders kitaplarının önemine değinilmiş ardından okuryazarlık türlerine, görsel okuryazarlığa, karikatürün Türkçe eğitimdeki yerine ve karikatür türlerine yer verilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde ortaokul Türkçe ders kitapları (5.-8. sınıflar) temalar altında incelenmiş, kitaplardaki karikatür kullanım oranına bakılmış, kullanılan karikatürün türü ve karikatürün kullanım amacı belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda karikatür kullanımının en çok 5. sınıf ders kitabında olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmada ortaya konulan bulgular ışığında kitaplarda kullanılan karikatür türlerinin artırılması ve öğrencilerin karikatür okuryazarlığı süreçlerini içselleştirmeleri önerilmiştir.
This study aimed to determine the proportions and types of cartoons used in secondary school Turkish textbooks (5th-8th grades) and to determine which skills the cartoons are intended to develop. In this study, which has a qualitative research design, document analysis method was used to analyze the data. Within the scope of the analysis, a set of 4 Turkish language textbooks taught in middle schools in Turkey that were determined by the Board of Education and released by the Ministry of National Education, was perused. After the importance of textbooks was mentioned, the types of literacy, visual literacy, the place of caricature in Turkish education and caricature types were discussed. In the analysis of the data, middle school Turkish language textbooks (5th-8th grades) were examined under the following themes: the rate of use of caricatures in the books, the style of caricature used and the purpose of using the caricatures. Findings from the study suggest that the use of caricatures is mostly seen in the 5th grade textbook. In the light of the findings revealed in the research, it could be suggested that the types of cartoons used in the books should be increased and that the students should internalize the processes of caricature literacy.
