Hristiyanlığın egemen olduğu bir ülkede yaygın din eğitimi pratiklerini bütün ayrıntılarıyla ve birincil kaynaklardan görmek hem eğitimciler hem de araştırmacılar için önemli bir referans noktasıdır. Hristiyanlık eğitimi verilen ülkelerde ailede din eğitiminin nasıl sunulduğu noktasında akademik kaynaklara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Amerika’da Hristiyan bir ailenin bebeklik ve çocukluk dönemi din eğitimi sürecini teorik ve pratik yönleriyle inceleyen “ChildFaith” isimli eser, din eğitimi ile ilgili birçok çalışması olan yazarların akademik tecrübeleri ve kendi çocuklarını yetiştirirken edindikleri tecrübeyle kaleme alınmıştır. Bu eser Amerika’da orta sınıf bir ailede yaygın din eğitiminin genel bir çerçevesini sunması açısından oldukça kapsamlı ve günceldir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, çocuğun din eğitiminin imkânını ve süreçlerini ortaya koyan, ebeveynlerin sorumluluklarına dikkat çeken ve onlara çeşitli tavsiyeler sunan “ChildFaith” adlı kitabın örnekliğinde Amerikalı Hristiyan ailede din eğitimini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmamızda nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. İlgili kitap incelenmiş, konunun daha iyi anlaşılması için ilgili diğer çalışmalara da müracaat edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak gelişimsel anlamda yaklaşık on yaşına kadar, eğitimli Hristiyan bir ailede nasıl bir din eğitimi verildiği genel hatlarıyla incelenmiştir. Söz konusu kitapta temel olarak, bebeklik döneminden itibaren din eğitimine başlanabileceği ve gelişim dönemlerine uygun olarak çeşitli yöntemlerin izlenmesiyle çocuğun dini-manevi gelişiminin aile tarafından desteklenmesinin mümkün olduğu vurgulanmış ve ebeveynlere bu konuda yol göstermek amaçlanmıştır.
In Examining the practices of non-formal religious education in a predominantly Christian country, through primary sources and with comprehensive detail, serves as a crucial point of refrence for both educators and researchers. In countries where Christianity is taught, academic resources are needed to understand how religious education is offered in the family. The book titled “ChildFaith”, that explores the process of religious education during infancy and childhood period of a Christian family in America with theoretical and practical aspects, was written by authors who have extensive academic expertise in the field of religious education, as well as personal experience gained from raising their own children. This study is quite comprehensive and up-to-date as it presents a general framework of non-formal religious education within a middle-class family in America. The aim of this study is to explore the dynamics of religious education in the American Christian family, using the book “ChildFaith”, as an example. The study sheds light on the potential and processes involved in the religious education of children, emphasizing the responsibilities of parents and offers them various recommendations. In our study, we utilized the document analysis method as one of the qualitative research methods. The relevant book was examined and other relevant studies were consulted for a better understanding of the subject. As a result, we conducted a comprehensive examination of all aspects of religious education within an educated Christian family up to the age of ten, from a developmental perspective. The book in question focuses on the initiation of religious education from infancy and highlights the potential for parents to facilitate their child’s religious and spiritual development through a range of methods tailored to their developmental stages. Its primary objective is to provide guidance to parents in this regard.
