Abstract:

There has been great change and transformation in almost every field all around the world. In particular, internet usage is growing at an unprecedented pace and, along with it, acculturation has become widespread. Acculturation has been almost turned into an industry sincethe Second World War. Today, acculturation makes itself clearin line with the effect of digitalization and social media. As a result, a sense of culture – which can be produced, consumed, and sold and can provide income – started to form. In the rapidlyglobalizing world, some efforts have been madeto modernize culture. Thus, for the sake of globalization, national cultures have been destroyed and foreign cultures are made naturalized. Mythology is one of the narrative components that nations use to keep their cultures alive and transfer it to the next generation. While Turkey tried to keep up with the developing world, the idea that Turkish mythology should have an important place in the life of the Turkish nation became prominent. Many researchers and philosophers have for centuries suggested different approaches tomythology. Everyculture, region, and nation hasa mythological heritage. This heritage is a cultural and artistic heritage. Beyond forming a cultural memory, mythology still has an important place and significance as a field of science and research today. Creation of a research field in Turkish mythology, along withmany nations, cultures, or regions, introductionof this field to cultural-visual memory, and its reflection on art should be valued because theyall form a study content. This qualitative study will primarily focus on the importance of Turkish mythology, and its reflection in intangible and tangible elements of Turkish plastic arts – painting, architecture, ornamentation, miniatures, items, ceramics, and other plastic art works –throughout history will be analyzed. The study will also analyze which elements of Turkish mythology are most frequently reflected in art works and how these elements are interpreted by artists and towhich purpose they were used.
