II. DÜNYA SAVAŞI DÖNEMİNDE MÜTTEFİK DEVLETLERE YAPILAN BİR BASIN GEZİSİNİN HALKLA İLİŞKİLER TARİHİ, MODELLERİ VE UYGULAMALARI KAPSAMINDA ANALİZİ

Abstract:

Bu çalışma, halkla ilişkiler tarihinde önemli bir evre kabul edilen İkinci Dünya Savaşı yıllarında, Müttefik devletlere yapılan bir basın gezisini ve bu geziye katılan gazetecilerden biri olan M. Zekeriya Sertel’in geziye bağlı olarak Tan gazetesinde kaleme aldığı yazı dizisini konu almaktadır. Çalışma bu konuyu, halkla ilişkiler tarihi, modelleri ve uygulamaları kapsamından değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nicel ve nitel teknikleri aynı çerçeve içerisinde kullanma imkânı sunan karma yaklaşımın benimsendiği çalışmada, örnek olay araştırması ve içerik çözümlemesi kullanılarak analizler yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda yapılan durum analizinde, mezkûr basın gezisinin hem mihver hem de müttefik devletlerin Türkiye üzerinde propaganda faaliyetlerini arttırdığı bir evrede gerçekleştiği görülmektedir. Aynı zamanda gezi planlı bir halkla ilişkiler faaliyetinin ürünü olarak değerlendirilebilir. Tan gazetesi ise Müttefiklerin gezi aracılığıyla sunmak isteyecekleri mesajları taşıyabilecek uygun bir mecra olarak belirginleşmektedir. Örnek yazı dizisine yönelik içerik analizinde de İngiltere ve Amerika intibaları başlıkları altındaki temalarda anlamlı yapılar bulunmuştur. Bu kapsamda, yazı dizisinde İngiltere’nin diplomatik yönü ön planda kamuoyuna sunulurken; Amerika’nın ekonomik yönü ön plana çıkartılmaktadır. Son olarak gezi ve yazı dizisi, kamuoyunu bilgilendirme ve iki yönlü simetrik model açısından değerlendirilebilecek hususlar barındırmaktadır. Çalışma özellikle halkla ilişkiler tarihinde Türkiye’deki alan yazında daha önce rastlanılmayan bir örneği ele alması bakımından benzerlerinden ayrılmaktadır.

Abstract:

This study focuses on a press trip to the Allied states during the Second World War, which was accepted as an important phase in the history of public relations, and the series of articles related to trip which are written by M. Zekeriya Sertel, one of the journalists who participated in this trip, in Tan newspaper. The study aims to evaluate this issue within the scope of public relations history, models and practices. In the study, a mixed approach based on using quantitative and qualitative techniques within the same framework was adopted, and also analyzes were done using case study and content analysis. In the situation analysis made in this context, it’s seen that, this press trip is realized in a phase that both the Axis and the Allied States increasing their propaganda activities towards Turkey. At the same time, the trip seems to be considered as the product of a planned public relations activity. On the other hand, the Tan newspaper becomes evident as a convenient platform that can carry the messages that the Allies would like to present through the trip. In the content analysis for the sample article series, meaningful structures were found in the themes under the headings of British and American impressions. In this context, while the diplomatic aspect of England is presented to the public in the foreground in the article series; The economic aspect of America is brought to the fore. Finally, the series of trips and articles contains issues that can be evaluated in terms of public information and a two-way symmetrical model. The study differs from the other similar studies in terms of handling an example which was not handled previously in public relations history literature of Turkey.
