Abstract:

Consumption increasing along with the crowded human population requires efficient resource management. Another matter that is important at this point as the management of resources is the management of waste produced by production/consumer activities. In order to successful results from waste management, people need to be aware of waste. Turkey has understood the importance of waste management and has implemented many legal regulations on this issue. It also carries out "zero waste" and similar projects to make waste management efficient and create awareness. However, despite the legal regulations and the projects carried out, there are significant shortcomings in the prevention and recovery issues. This study aims to reveal the knowledge of health workers about waste management. In this context, 17 health workers from the Kocaeli Deep Education Research Hospital have been interviewed. Interviews forms have been achieved by coding with the quality data analysis program in Maxq. The main results have been achieved as the lack of information about waste management and recovery and the lack of local waste management activities.
