Sosyal hizmet eğitimi, en basit şekliyle öğrencilere sosyal hizmetin bilgi, beceri ve değer üçlemesinin öğretildiği, etik ilke ve sorumlulukların aktarıldığı bir farkındalık kazandırma süreci olarak tanımlanabilir. Bu süreçte kazanılan bilginin uygulamaya aktarılması ise temel bir zorunluluktur. Eğitim sürecinde bu aktarım süreci uygulama dersleriyle mümkün olabilmektedir. Hacettepe Üniversitesi İ.İ.B.F. Sosyal Hizmet Bölümünde Sosyal Hizmet Uygulamaları dersine geçmeden önce öğrencilere hangi kurumda uygulama yapmak istedikleri sorulmaktadır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin kurum tercih süreçleri, ilgili değişkenler çerçevesinde irdelenmiştir. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemiyle yürütülmüş, bu kapsamda Hacettepe Üniversitesi İ.İ.B.F Sosyal Hizmet Bölümü 3. sınıfta eğitim gören 117 öğrencinin uygulama yapacakları kurumu tercih etme süreci hakkında görüşü alınmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmının kendilerini uygulama yapmaya hazır hissetmemesi ve uygulama öncesi çeşitli endişeler taşıması elde edilen sonuçlardandır.
