Abstract:

Child abuse is an important problem in the European Union EU as it is in the whole world. Approximately one FIVE child is a victim of abuse. Despite all the measures taken, it is not possible to reset this crime. Due to the fact that child abuse is a violation of human rights, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 20 November 1989. According to this contract Article 19 ; the child has the right to protection from all forms of violence and the signatory states have the obligation to take all necessary and appropriate measures to ensure their children's rights are exercised. The EU countries have signed the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse ECSC on 13 December 2011 in order to find rooted solutions to the problem. The purpose of this Convention Lanzarote Convention is; to prevent and exploit sexual exploitation and abuse of children. On the other hand, EU countries have also established a central organization among themselves, sharing records of child abuse among themselves. Thus, an abusive person who commits a crime in any EU country can be followed in another EU country. Since child abuse has also been defined as a type of violence, the Council of Europe has also published the "Integrated Strategy on Violence Against Violence" in 2009 and has encouraged EU countries to cooperate. The issue of child abuse, one of the most important problems of our age, has been dealt with from a general point of view.
