Abstract:

Information about the identity of the people's painter, who made these interesting decorations with the rich pen work and line decorations of Manisa's Selendi district, the Sold Village Camii, is the main subject of our work. It is known that numerous structures in Anadolu, primarily Istanbul, began in the 18th century and became a tradition in the 19th century. But these forms are separated from each other in terms of form and content. The capital dominates a different conception of decoration between the structures in major cities such as Istanbul and Izmir and other regions of Anadolu, especially the structures in the roof. In the structures of the different regions of Anadolu, including the inner-western Anadolu cities such as Denizli, Muğla, Uşak, Kütahya, in addition to the illustrations that reflect the Western decoration understanding, the decorations that are also called the folk art and include various motives related to the texts. The wall paintings made in 1954 of the Sold Village Camii that we have reviewed are important in terms of being one of the examples that continued this tradition in a very late period. The wealthy pen works and line decorations in the camide, in addition to the traditional wall image understanding it contains, also provide interesting data with its symbolic motifs outside the usual. The results of our research have achieved various information about the identity and history of the master named Ahmet Akbüber who has decorated the mosque and is not alive today. In the notes that Akbüber holds in his own books, it is clear that one of the leading persons of a technician operating in Demirci, and that the four mosques in the same area, in addition to the structure we study, are decorated with more similar decorations. Especially in Anatolia, people who continued this tradition were considered to be linked with the texts, taking into account the writings and symbols they used. However, the information on their identity was quite limited. It is also important that Ahmet Akbüber, who is the head of the Selendi Sold Village Camii, is one of the leading persons of a Rifa community that operates in Demirci, to clearly show the connection between them.
