From past to present, religion has assumed a guiding role in the development and formation of individual's character and personality through self-knowledge. A true religious belief can be said to be an important factor in the formation of an integrated personality type that is consistent and balanced, free from excesses, both in cognitive and psychological and spiritual aspects. For a person who believes in any religion, religion affects many areas of life, especially attitudes and behaviours, but is at the centre of spiritual life. In this respect, it is obvious that the developmental relationship of religion with personality should be seriously investigated among many factors affecting attitudes and behaviours. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between religion and personality and its positive effect on personality development. In addition, the Holy Quran and the hadiths of the Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), which are the two main sources of Islamic religion, are frequently used. Thus, it was aimed to make a research on the relationship between personality development and religion. In the study, it is concluded that personality develops as a result of the genetic factors that an individual possesses before birth and many environmental factors gained after birth. In this process, religion describes a universal ideal human model especially with the values dimension and draws a perspective that surrounds even the unbelieving people. In addition, it has been determined that the sense of religion is in a position that both affects and affected the personality development process in the fulfilment of some basic needs such as existence, belonging, trust, attachment and communication. In this process, religion describes a universal ideal human model especially with the values dimension and draws a perspective that surrounds even the unbelieving people.
