Bu çalışmanın amacı, Sivas ilinde öğrenimleri devam eden Meslek Yüksek Okulu öğrencilerinin gelir- harcama ilişkisini belirlemektir. Bu amaca ulaşmak için öğrencilerin değişik mal ve hizmet gruplarına yaptığı harcamalar yüz yüze anket yoluyla analiz edilmek istenmiştir. Her bir harcama kalemi için ayrı ayrı fonksiyonel kalıplar denenerek bunlar içerisinde en uygun formu bulmak için birçok sınama yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda öğrencilerin gelir esneklikleri elde edilmiştir. Esneklik değerleri 1’in altında olanlar zorunlu mal kategorisine girerken 1’in üzerinde olanlar lüks mal kategorisine girmektedir. Çalışma sonucuna göre gıda ve alkolsüz içecekler, konaklama, ulaşım, haberleşme, eğitim, giyim ve ayakkabı ve kişisel bakım harcama gruplarının esneklik değerleri 1’in altında bulunduğu için zorunlu mal kategorisine girmektedir. Alkollü içecekler, sigara ve tütün, çeşitli mal ve hizmetler, eğlence ve sağlık harcama grubunun esneklik değerinin ise 1’in üzerinde olduğundan lüks mal kategorisine sahip olduğu görülmektedir.

The aim of this study is to determine the income-expenditure relationship of the students of Vocational High School in Sivas. In order to achieve this aim, the expenditures of students from to different goods groups were analyzed through a face-to-face survey. For each expenditure item, functional molds were tested separately and many tests were performed to find the most suitable form among them. As a result of the analysis, income elasticities of the students were obtained. Those whose elasticity values are less than 1 fall into the compulsory goods category and those over 1 fall into the luxury goods category. According to the results of the study, food and non-alcoholic beverages, accommodation, transportation, communication, education, clothing and footwear and personal care expenditure groups are less than 1, therefore they fall into the compulsory goods category. Alcoholic beverages, cigarettes and tobacco, various goods and services, entertainment and health expenditure group has a flexibility value above 1, it is seen that the luxury goods category.
