The purpose of this research is to examine the perception of workplace incivility among female academicians. In order to examine the research subject from different aspects, the qualitative research method was preferred in the study. The research was directed using the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs. The sample for the research consists of 13 female academicians working at a public university in Turkey. The Interview method was used in the research as a data collection tool. The obtained data were subjected to content analysis with an inductive and descriptive approach. As a result of the content analysis, four main themes related to the concept of workplace incivility were identified. These themes are: the general characteristics of workplace incivility, the causes of workplace incivility, common incivility in the workplace, and the consequences of workplace incivility. According to the research findings, it has been seen that workplace incivility includes disrespect, is done unintentionally, and disturbs the employees. Personality and demographic characteristics of employees, social and cultural reasons, and organizational factors affect workplace incivility. Not giving greetings is seen as an important act of general incivility by employees. Managers and employees commit different acts of incivility according to their positions. It has been observed that the reaction of female academicians to workplace incivility, which is done for the first time and not often, is generally passive. However, it has been observed that workplace incivility has negative consequences for employees and organizational performance. It is thought that the research will make an original contribution to the relevant literature.
