Deprem, gerçekleştiği bölgede çevresel hasarların yanında fiziksel, ekonomik ve sosyal kayıplar da meydana getirerek toplumsal sonuçlar doğuran bir doğa olayıdır. Deprem sonrası etkilenen kişilere erken dönemde ve yeterli düzeyde sağlanacak olan psikososyal müdahaleler, yaşanan sıkıntının ciddi ruh sağlığı sorunlarına dönüşmesini önlemede etkilidir. Psikososyal müdahalelerin en erken aşamasında psikolojik ilk yardım yer alır. Psikolojik ilk yardım, olağan dışı durumlar sonrasında ortaya çıkan ilk duygusal tepkilerin ağırlığını azaltmak amacı ile kişiye sunulan insani ve destekleyici bir müdahaledir. Deprem gibi olağan dışı durumların bireysel etkileri akut stres tepkileri ile başlayan geçici bir süreç olabileceği gibi travma sonrası stres bozukluğu, depresyon, anksiyete bozuklukları, psikotik bozukluklar ve alkol madde kullanım bozuklukları gibi çok sayıda ruhsal bozukluğun tetiklenmesi ya da alevlenmesi şeklinde de olabilir. İlgili literatüre derlenerek hazırlanan bu makalede depremzedelere yönelik erken psikososyal müdahalenin önemi, depremin ruhsal etkileri ile bu etkilere nasıl ve ne zaman müdahale edilmesi gerektiği üzerinde durularak konuyla ilgili toplumsal farkındalık oluşturmak hedeflenmiştir.
An earthquake is a natural disaster that has social consequences that cause physical, economic and social losses as well as environmental damage in the region where it occurs. Psychosocial interventions, which will be provided to the affected people at an early stage and at an adequate level after the earthquake, are effective in preventing the distress experienced from turning into serious mental health problems. Psychological first aid is included in the earliest stage of psychosocial interventions. Psychological first aid is a human and supportive intervention offered to a person in order to reduce the severity of the first emotional reactions that occur after unusual situations. The effects of unusual situations such as earthquakes that happen to people can start with acute stress reactions and be temporary, as well as the initiator or perpetuator of numerous mental disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, alcohol substance use disorders. In this review, the importance of early intervention after an earthquake and how and when to intervene in the mental symptoms that occur after an earthquake will be emphasized.
