Abstract:

Since the end of December 2019, a new corona virus has spread the Covid-19 epidemic worldwide and has become a pandemic. In the world and in Turkey, the epidemic continues to show its effects. The virus, which is mainly transmitted through the drops, can infect individuals as a result of the contact of the drops that the sick individuals put into the environment and the contact of their hands with any of the oral, nasal or ocular mucus. This virus, which has caused many health workers to be infected since its beginning, is a major threat to dentists, dental assistants and dentists who have been in close contact with patients during treatment and are exposed to sputum and blood in the environment with a lot of aerosol production. Unless the necessary infection control measures are taken, dental clinics may also become a spread area for Covid-19. Therefore, the World Health Organization (WHO) has published a series of measures and algorithms aimed at dental practices in the period of pandemic in the fields of medicine and dental medicine and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. The purpose of this collection is also to review the literary information on Covid-19 and to provide the necessary measures to prevent the dangers that may arise in the period of the pandemic dental practice, in light of the guidelines published by the DSO, the Ministry of Health and the Scientific Organizations. Dentists also need to take care of their patients by following these updated algorithms and pay attention to the use of personal protective equipment. Dentists, like other infectious diseases, should continue their treatment under the necessary measures by receiving all patients in the period of Covid-19 pandemic infection. It is also necessary to be careful before diagnosed with Covid-19 and not yet known how long the infection lasts in healed patients.
