Klasik eğitim anlayışlarına olduğu kadar analitik eğitim felsefelerine de bir tepki olarak gelişen eleştirel pedagoji, insanların dünyayı değiştirip dönüştürecek ve yeniden kurabilecek aktif birer özne konumuna gelmelerinin ancak eğitimle mümkün olabileceğine inanır. Eleştirel pedagoji, eğitimin politik bir amaca hizmet ettiğini unutmadan diyalojik ve sevgiye dayalı bir yöntem ile özgürleşmenin bir aracı olarak kullanılabileceğine vurgu yapar. Bu sayede insanlar, aktif özneler olarak hem kendilerinin hem de öteki olanın özgürleşmesini sağlayarak özgür, eşit, adil bir dünya inşa edebilir. Eleştirileri ve bu eleştiriler merkezinde ortaya koyduğu çözüm önerileri ile şüphesiz eleştirel pedagoji 20. yüzyıl için önemli ve değerlidir. Ancak zaman zaman toplumsal olanı ihmal ettiği, toplumsal sorunları yeteri kadar iyi analiz edemediği, yaşam dünyasından uzak ve ütopik çözümler ürettiği noktasında birtakım eleştirilere maruz kalmıştır. Bu çalışmada, eğitimin bir özgürleşme aracı olabileceği teziyle hareket eden eleştirel pedagojiye yönelik yine eleştirel bir okuma gerçekleştirerek eğitim ve özgürleşme arasında bir ilişkinin kurulup kurulamayacağı tartışılacaktır. Bu bağlamda önce eleştirel pedagoji ile ilgili bilgi verilecek devamında eleştirel pedagojinin iyi bir insan doğasına duyduğu inançla ortaya koymaya çalıştığı tezi farklı uğraklar üzerinden eleştirilip değerlendirilmeye çalışılacaktır.
Critical pedagogy, developing as a reaction to the classical understandings of education and analytical philosophies of education, believes that only through education can people become active subjects who can change, transform and re-establish the world. Critical pedagogy emphasizes that education can be used as a means of emancipation with a dialogical and love-based method, without forgetting that it serves a political purpose. In this way, people can build a free, equal and fair world by ensuring the emancipation of both themselves and others as active subjects. Undoubtedly, critical pedagogy, with its critiques and proposed solutions at the center of these criticisms, is important and valuable for the 20th century. From time to time, however, it has been accused that critical pedagogy neglects the social and cannot analyze social problems well enough; and produces utopian solutions far removed from the world. In this study, it will be discussed whether a relationship between education and emancipation can be established by making a critical reading of critical pedagogy, based on the thesis that education can be a means to emancipation. In this context, firstly, information about critical pedagogy will be given. Subsequently, the thesis that critical pedagogy tries to put forward with its belief in a good human nature will be tried to be criticized and evaluated through different moments.
