Abstract:

Interior design is an instrument that helps to establish the right connection between structure and space, space and user. Interior design offers solutions for how a structure will be used more efficiently and functionally in accordance with the purpose of all closed and empty spaces. While these recommendations may apply to both our interior design arrangements, they may also apply to historical structures built centuries before the time range we legislate. This study was carried out within the framework of the course called "MIM S100 Interior Design in Historical Buildings" defined as an optional course in the ERU Architecture Department during the 2019-2020 Spring Education-Teaching Period and includes the evaluation of studio studies, methods and experiences within the course. The method applied to the target, the course processing process, which is conducted along with the experience given during the application, is provided for students to perceive the space and user connection more clearly. With the design patches prepared within the course, students have experienced in four main steps how to analyze an interior and how to present a good design taking into account its functionality. The process formed by these four main steps, students have supported and fed their creativity. As a result, in this course, the theoretical contents are more realistic and qualified interior design output suggestions.
