Uyumsuz Protezle İlişkili Skuamöz Hücreli Karsinom: Olgu Sunumu
2020
Journal:
Osmangazi Tıp Dergisi
Author:
Abstract:

Scumocellular Carcinoma Related to Incompatible Prothesis: Case Presentation
2020
Author:
Abstract:

Oral squamocellular cancer (OSHK) is a typical histopathological type of oral cancer in adults. It is associated with risk factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption. The subject should be discussed whether the chronic irritation created by the tissue conformity disrupted proteins plays a role in the etiology. It is mostly found in men over the age of 40. The areas where OSHK is seen in the mouth empty are the basis of the tongue and mouth, less frequently affected in the tooth and pancreas mucous. When OSHK is diagnosed early, the forecast is quite good. A 70-year-old male patient appeared to our clinic with a complaint of pain in the mouth base caused by incompatible proteins. Intraoral examination in the mouth base, exotic soft tissue growth was detected. Based on the clinical characteristics of the lesion and the patient's history, OSHK was considered in the pre-diagnosis. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of OSHK. Dentists should be cautious, especially in the elderly patients who are using prothesis, because the risk of oral cancer is high. Clinically, as OSHK can often be seen in the form of painless ulcers, it can be mixed with prostate-related traumatic ulcers. Because early diagnosis is very important, injuries that don’t get healed within two weeks should be evaluated in the malignity direction.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma Associated With İll-fitting Denture: A Case Report
2020
Author:
Abstract:

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common histopathologic type of oral cancer in adults. It is related to risk factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption. The issue of the chronic irritation of ill-fitting dentures playing a role in etiology is controversial. It occurs mostly in male individuals over 40 years of age. The most common sites for OSCC in oral cavity are the tongue and floor of mouth, while gingiva and buccal mucosa are less frequently involved. Prognosis is usually fair when OSCC is diagnosed early. A 70-year-old male patient presented to our clinic with a complaint of pain in the floor of the mouth due to an ill-fitting denture. Intraoral examination revealed an ulcerated, exophytic soft tissue growth on the floor of the mouth. The initial diagnosis of OSCC was considered based on the clinical features of the lesion and anamnesis of the patient. Histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of OSCC. Dentists should be cautious, especially in elderly patients who use dentures because of the high risk of having oral cancers. Clinically, OSCC may be confused with denture-related traumatic ulcers, as it can often occur in the form of painless ulcer. Since early diagnosis is very important, lesions that do not heal within two weeks should be evaluated for malignancy.
