Abstract:

Social renewal movements are cases that closely concern the masses within political systems. Innovation moves built for the development of social life in the process of change are also carried out in the form of administrative interventions from time to time. These practices aiming for political change have been implemented in line with the demands of ideologists within the framework of society's needs. All of these can be in the form of suppression by top-down orders or it can be spread over time within certain duration. Social changes and conversions which are considerably troublesome can produce significant problems within the target group. It is inevitable to experience chaotic ambience and polemics during and after the change processes. Since social change movements are very delicate implementations, they are based on the principle of being carried out especially through role models. Turkish modernization efforts, carried out with Western concerns within the axis of democratization, have occasionally been met with social reactions during and after the implementation process. In order to reduce these reactions, laws have been enacted with the aim of ensuring the protection of the innovations implemented by the dominant will. In the article, modernization moves will be discussed in the form of transitional stages from monarchy to republic, implementation methods and reactions in a region which has the feature of being a Turkish- Islamic society. Within the article, the process of bringing the Turkish revolutions to the society with the logic of modernization and how these innovative activities have a reflection with the public will be examined. The study is prepared by examining the public reactions on the basis of archival documents, media organs concerning the period, memoirs and literature sources.
