Bu çalışma tıp fakültesi ve hemşirelik öğrencilerinde intihar olasılığı ve problem çözme becerilerinin sosyodemografik değişkenlerle ilişkisinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma örneklemini 178 tıp fakültesi ve 81 hemşirelik bölümü öğrencisi olmak üzere 259 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği ve Problem Çözme Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların %68,7 si tıp fakültesi öğrencileri, %31,3 lük kısmını ise hemşirelik bölümü öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin %2,3’ünün özkıyım girişiminde bulunduğu, %13,1’inin ise özkıyım düşüncesi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin yaş, cinsiyet ve diğer sosyodemografik özellikleri ile intihar olasılıkları ve problem çözme davranışları arasında herhangi bir ilişki tespit edilememiştir. Öğrencilerinin Problem çözme Envanteri ile İntihar Olasılığı Ölçeği toplam puan ortalamaları arasında pozitif yönlü orta düzeyde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Tespit edilen problem çözme becerisi yetersiz ya da desteklenmeye ihtiyacı olan öğrencilerin aynı zamanda intihar olasılığının da göz önünde bulundurulması, intihar düşüncesi ya da girişimi açısından risklerin farkında olunması gerekmektedir.
This study was conducted with the aim of studying the possibility of suicide and the relationship of problem-solving skills with sociodemographic variables in medical faculty and nursing students. The study sample was formed by 259 university students, including 178 medical faculty and 81 nursing department students. In the study, the scale of suicide and the problem solving inventory were used. 68.7% of participants are medical students and 31.3% are nursing students. 2.3% of students are self-determined, while 13.1% are self-determined. There is no connection between the age, gender and other sociodemographic characteristics of students and the probability of suicide and problem-solving behaviors. The student’s Problem Solving Reserve and Suicide Probability Scale have found a positive-oriented middle-level relationship between the total score average. The detected problem-solving skills are insufficient or students who need support should also be aware of the risk of suicide thinking or attempt, taking into account the possibility of suicide.
