Abstract:

Israel was founded in 1948 and one of the first countries to recognize Turkey. During the Cold War, Turkey, located in the West Bloc against the Soviet danger, has generally followed a western axis foreign policy. When the relations between Turkey and the United States have evolved, the relations between Turkey and Israel have also gained a momentum, but when the relations with the United States have been narrowed, the relations between Turkey and Israel have also been disturbed. Turkey-Israel relations cannot be regarded independent of U.S. foreign policy. Israel’s interests and security are at the heart of the US’ Middle East policy. When we look at the policies that Turkey is conducting in the Middle East, it seems that neutrality in the conflicts between the Arabs and the political balance in the conflicts between the Arabs and Israel is followed. These policies have periodically changed, but the main change in Turkish foreign policy has occurred with the AK Party arriving in power in 2002. The relationship between Turkey and Israel has evolved. But the pressure policies and attempts of Israel to push Palestine have brought the relations with Turkey to a breakthrough. As in the past, the situation has changed the course of the U.S.-Turkey relations. The purpose of this article is to analyze the policies of Turkey and the United States in the Middle East to reveal their relations with Israel and to evaluate the relations between Turkey and Israel in the American foreign policy axis.
