Abstract:

The historical novel is one of the main sources that rebuild the past, leaving the roots of historical reality. The writer of the historical novel, with the help of the fantasy world, produces the historical reality, so that the historical novel occurs as a result of the unification of the writer’s imagination with the accepted events in which it occurs. The historic novel, shaped in the memory of the Russian people in Russia as a reflection of the popular movement around the causes of the Decabrist movement, shaped the historic novel with the ideological content of this struggle and the various events of the Russian history. In this study, as a reflection of historical events in Russian literature, the history of the novel's appearance, its sources, how it evolved and the historical flow of research in this field was tried to be given, the first addresses of the historical novel writers were pointed out to Walter Scott and his influence in Russia. This study will also witness the process of forming the values that form the national and historical consciousness of the Russian state and the nation.
