This study aimed to identify the knowledge and competency of the multigrade class teachers about the foreign language teaching methods and techniques through their opinions. In line with this purpose, the data was collected by semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. The form was administered to two class teachers for the reliability of the form. The study was conducted with 11 multigrade class teachers teaching foreign language classes in eight primary schools having multigrade classes in Tarsus County in Mersin in 2015- 2016 education year. Volunteering and maximum diversity were paid regard to selecting the participants. From the results obtained from the data in the research, ıt was found that the language proficiency level of the multigrade teachers was very low and that they received no training on how to teach foreign languages. This may be the main reason why foreign language education is unsuccessful in multigrade classes. Besides, it was also found that the instruments and equipment, methods and techniques, and activities used in class were used incorrectly and this resulted in lack of interest and demotivation of both the teachers and the students
