Abstract:

The aim of this study is to test the reliability and validity of the "Sport Motivation Scale" developed by Pelletier, Fortier, Valierand, Tuson, Biiere and Blais (1995) for Turkish athletes. The scale of driving in sport consists of 28 items, which are made according to the seven evaluation stages of judgment, and contains seven lower scales. The scale was applied to 110 women (38.6%) and 175 men (61.4%) with an average age of 20.70 from different sports branches. The basic components made with the varimax reversion method to test the structural validity of the measurement used the factor analysis. The original scale consists of 7 sub-scale, while the basic components after factor analysis are collected under 6 sub-scale and describe the total substance's percentage. For substance distinctivity, the substance in each of these six sub-scales was determined to be positive and high when considering the substance-totally test correlation. When the internal consistency values calculated by Cronbach alpha were studied, it was determined that in the internal drive to know-success, .88, in the internal drive to live, .73, in the internal drive, .82, in the identity, .72, in the external arrangement, .74, and in the low scale of non-driving, .70 were determined. To determine the consistency between applications at different times, the test was performed with a four-week interval and the test correlation was estimated to vary between .52 and .91. The findings show that the scale of intrusion in sports is a scale that can be used to determine the internal, external and non-driving levels of the Turkish athlete.
