Postgraduate education activities executed under departments of music education which are listed under the category of postgraduate programs are the kind of educational processes that can enable the individuals to become experts in teaching of music profession and that can acquire them a top level of educational background. As required by the field study itself, a wide range of musical instruments are taught in postgraduate programs of teaching of music. Flute education which takes place at this process as one domain of instrument education is integrated to the departmental programs of music education and it can thus introduce postgraduate thesis studies in relevant field. This paper that aims to unveil research dispositions in postgraduate studies on flute in departments of music education is a qualitative research that employs document analysis technique. Research sampling consists of a total of 42 theses selected via purposeful sampling method. Out of the total sampling; 12 theses are selected from PhD studies on flute in departments of music education and 30 theses are selected from master's studies. Research data were collected via “Postgraduate Thesis Classification Form” developed by the researcher and in the analysis of collected data content analysis was employed. Based on the findings of this research, postgraduate theses on flute in departments of music education have been analyzed with respect to their distribution on the basis of years, universities, subject fields, research methods, selection method of the analyzed group in the study, selection methods of the sampling, validity-reliability methods, data collection tools and data analysis methods and suggestions on the research question have thus been provided.
