Abstract:

The Teaching Profession Law entered into force on February 6, 2022, accompanied by discussions. The Teaching Profession Law has been discussed for a long time with its pros and cons and it seems that it will continue to be discussed. The aim of this research is to reveal the views of the administrators on the Teaching Profession Law. The research is a qualitative research. The study group of the research consists of fifteen school administrators working in different schools in Antalya province Gazipaşa district. Maximum variation sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods, was used while determining the participants. In the analysis of the data, the descriptive analysis method, which is one of the qualitative data analysis techniques, was used. The opinions of the administrators on the Teaching Profession Law are grouped under four themes: the qualifications and selection of teachers, the regulation of candidate teaching, the regulations for career steps, and "degree, additional indicators and compensations". According to the research findings, the administrators stated that besides the positive aspects of the law, it has deficiencies and needs to be regulated. They stated that regulations should be made to increase the rights and status of teachers and that provisions on school management should also be included.
