The second of the five all-known concepts of gender, kind, distinction, hassa and association, the concept of type is a commonly used concepts in the logic of concepts, in the theory of definitions and in the discussion of the whole. Therefore, the kind of concept plays an important role in understanding these subjects. As Aristotle (e. 384-322) did not study five entities under a separate title, Porphyrios (e. 420) took the work Isagoge for a better understanding of the book Categories, and this work was added as an entrance to the culture Organon. Porphyrios, in his work, processed the five whole in detail and prepared the ground for better understanding of these concepts. In the Islamic world, one of the founding sources in the medres is the name of Ebherî (663) Isâgûcî. In this work, Abherî briefly summarized the logic subjects and had the logic understanding of his own time in his work. In this work we also tried to identify the meanings that Porphyrios and Ebherî had charged with the kind of whole. Therefore, in this study, Porphyrios, who worked in detail with five whole parts, discussed the kind of whole views of Ebherî, which have been studied in medreses for centuries, and we tried to reveal the similarities and differences of the meanings that they have charged with this whole. As we do this, we are more relied on the logical works of the intellectuals and standing on the logical meaning of the whole kind.

The concept of species, which is the second of the five universals known as genus, species, distinction, precision, and correlation, is an essential concept frequently used in concepts logic, definition theory, and the discussion of universals. Therefore, the idea of genre plays a vital role in understanding these issues. Since Aristotle (d.384-322) did not examine the five universals in his works under a separate title, Porphyrios (d.420) wrote the piece named Isagoge for a better understanding of the book named Categories, and this work was added as an introduction to the corpus called Organon. Porphyrios has laid the groundwork for a better understanding these concepts by elaborating five universals in this work. In the Islamic world, one of the primary sources taught in madrasahs is the book of Ebherî (d.663) called Îsâgûcî. Ebherî briefly summarized the logic issues in this work, and he encapsulated the logical understanding of his period in his career. In this study, we tried to examine the meanings that Porphyrios and Ebheri attributed to the universal genre. For this reason, in this study, we have dealt with the generic views of Porphyrios, who has been taught in madrasahs for centuries, with Porphyrios, who has been studying five universals in detail, and we tried to reveal the similarities and differences of the meanings they attribute to these universals. While doing this, we focused more on the logical importance of the genre universal by adhering to the logical works of the authors.
