Bu çalışmanın amacı, Bir Sürgün romanında Dr. Hikmet’in yaşamış olduğu medeniyet krizini değerler eğitimi açısından incelemektir. Bu nedenle Dr. Hikmet’in bir Doğulu olarak Batıya ulaşma isteği İzmir, İstanbul ve Paris üçgeni içerisinde ele alınmış olup değerler dünyasında yaşadığı değişimler medeniyet krizi çerçevesinde irdelenmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma evrenini Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu’nun romanları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada amaçlı örneklem yoluna gidilmiş olup Bir Sürgün romanı ele alınmıştır. Dr. Hikmet’in Batı medeniyetine dair tahayyül ettiği terakki ve tekâmül anlayışı ve Paris’te yaşadığı hayal kırıklıkları Spranger’in değerler sınıflandırmasıyla tespit edilmiştir. Romandan elde edilen değer çözümlemeleri için içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu çerçevede, ele alınan romanda Dr. Hikmet’in Paris deneyimi sosyal, kültürel ve politik açılardan incelenmiştir. Ayrıca bu deneyimlerin meydana getirdiği değişimler değerler dünyası bakımından ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada Dr. Hikmet’in bir Jön Türk sempatizanı olarak Paris’e giderken Batıyı uygarlığın merkezi ve zirvesi olarak nitelendirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Ancak Paris’te tanıştığı Ragıp Bey, ihtilal yanlısı Jön Türkler ve kendilerine tepeden bakan Batılılar karşısında derin bir hayal kırıklığına uğradığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca Dr. Hikmet’in Batı medeniyetine dair kitaplardan imrenerek okuduğu hiçbir şeyi Paris’te bulamadığı görüşü hâkim olmuştur. Dolayısıyla Dr. Hikmet tarafından Batıya duyulan hayranlığın yavaş yavaş rahatsız edici bir etkiye neden olduğu ve iç dünyasında endişelere yol açtığı anlaşılmıştır. Sonuç olarak Dr. Hikmet’in değerler dünyası, Batı medeniyetini taklit etmeye çalışmanın bireyleri köksüzleştirdiği anlayışını ortaya koymuş ve medeniyet krizini aşmanın değerlere sahip çıkmakla mümkün olacağı vurgusunda bulunmuştur. Bu çerçevede medeniyet krizine neden olan arada kalmışlık hissinin ancak öze dönmekle sükûn bulacağı görüşünü hâkim olmuştur.
The aim of this study is to explore the civilization crisis Dr. Hikmet has experienced in A Exile novel in terms of education of values. Therefore, Dr. Hikmet’s desire to reach the West as a East has been addressed within the triangle of İzmir, Istanbul and Paris and the changes in the world of values have been drawn up in the framework of civilization crisis. In the study, the method of document examination of the quality research methods was used. The work universe is formed by the novels of Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu. The research was conducted for example, and a displaced novel was discussed. Dr. Hikmet’s conception of the Western civilization and his disappointment in Paris was identified by Spranger’s value classification. The method of content analysis was used for the value analysis obtained from the novel. In this context, the novel discussed Dr. Hikmet’s Paris experience is studied from a social, cultural and political point of view. Also, the changes that these experiences produce have been addressed in terms of the world of values. The study found that Dr. Hikmet was a Jön Turkish sympathist who visited Paris while describing the West as the center and peak of civilization. But Mr. Ragup, he met in Paris, has seen a deep disappointment in the face of the controversial Yön Turks and the Western people who look at them from the hill. It was also a judgment that Dr. Hikmet did not find anything in Paris that he had read in his books about the Western civilization. That is why Dr. It is understood that the admiration heard by wisdom to the West has slowly caused an unpleasant effect and caused concerns in the inner world. As a result, Dr. Hikmet’s world of values has revealed the understanding that the attempt to imitate the Western civilization has rooted individuals and emphasized that overcoming the civilization crisis will be possible by possessing values. In this framework, it was judged that the feeling of stagnation that caused the crisis of civilization would only find it peaceful by returning to it.
