Aim of this study was to determine the parameter or parameters that will affect the treatment plan of patients with laryngeal cancer. 39 cases were studied retrospectively. The prameters were differentiation, T stage, N stage, TNM staging, size, age, site of involvement, preopertive tracheatomy, neck metastasis and extracapsular spread.T3 stage, palpable node, TNM 3rd stage, size greater than 2cm, age greater than 60, neck metastasis, extracapsular spread, supraglottic involvement, preopertive tracheatomy were related to shorter survival, however non of them had significant effect on survival statistically (p > 0.05 for each ). In multivariate analysis the only independent variable related to neck metastasis was \"palpable node existance\" (p<0.05). Examination of the neck is as important as the examination of the primary tumour in a cancer patient
