Abstract:

In this study, the multicultural experiences, attitudes, and beliefs of pre-service music teachers’ were examined. The participants of the study were 91 pre-service teachers studying in the Music Teacher Education Program of a university in the Western Black Sea region in Turkey. Multicultural Efficacy Scale developed by Guyton and Wesche (2005) was used to gather the data of the study. The findings of the study showed that the pre-service music teachers had positive multicultural attitudes and beliefs. Furthermore, the results of the study indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in multicultural attitudes and beliefs of pre-service music teachers in terms of gender. However there is a significant difference in terms of grade level. Music teacher education programs should be organized by considering multicultural attitudes and beliefs of the pre-service teachers.
