Abstract:

The process of coherence between the EU and Turkey has been ongoing for a long time. This study aims to determine whether there are differences between the EU member countries and Turkey in terms of some basic economic standards. The purpose of the study is to identify the most determining economic indicators of being a member of the European Union. In the study, 21 variables and 208 countries data were used. The data were obtained from the World Development Indicators 2007 program. In the study, many varied statistical techniques have been used by Factor and Logistics Regression Analysis. The results of the analysis; the most effective economic variables in the absence of a member of the European Union; goods and services exports, purchasing power parity - national income per person, non-profit spending, exports, imports, purchasing power parity conversion rate in the exchange rate and the government's annual growth target in the money supply. In the light of the findings, it is recommended that Turkey improve the status of the 7 economic indicators that are called the priority target.
