Abstract:

Natural gas energy plays an important role in the determination and implementation of energy policies in the world economies due to its advantages in terms of primary energy types such as oil and coal. In this regard, it can be stated that the degree of dependence of the countries on natural gas demand is also important to ensure sustainable growth and development. The study aimed at estimating the price and income flexibility of the natural gas demand in the EU countries chosen between 2007 and 2015. The relationship between the variables included in the established model was analyzed by Panel unit root test and Panel ARDL method predictor. The results of the empirical analysis show that in selected countries the price flexibility in the housing sector is relatively lower than in the industrial sector and the income flexibility in the housing sector is higher than in the industrial sector.

Doğal gaz enerjisi; petrol ve kömür gibi birincil enerji türlerine göre sahip olduğu avantajlı yönleri dolayısıyla dünya ekonomilerindeki enerji politikalarının belirlenmesi ve uygulanmasında önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, sürdürülebilir büyüme ve kalkınmanın sağlanması için ülkelerin doğal gaz talebine karşı bağımlılık derecesinin de önem arz ettiği ifade edilebilir. Yapılan çalışmada, 2007-2015 yılları arasındaki Türkiye ile seçilmiş Avrupa Birliği Ülkeleri’ndeki doğal gaz talebinin konut ile sanayi sektörlerindeki fiyat ve gelir esnekliğinin tahmin edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kurulan modelde yer alan değişkenler arasındaki ilişki, Panel birim kök testi ve Panel ARDL yöntemi tahmincisi ile analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan ampirik analiz sonuçları, seçilmiş ülkelerde konut sektöründeki fiyat esnekliğinin sanayi sektörüne göre nispeten daha düşük ve konut sektöründe ise gelir esnekliğinin sanayi sektörüne göre daha yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
