ÇOCUK EDEBİYATI ESERLERİNDE YER ALAN ENGELLİ HAYVAN KARAKTERLERE İLİŞKİN ÖĞRENCİ GÖRÜŞLERİ

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, çocuk kitaplarında yer alan engelli hayvan karakterlere ilişkin 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin görüş ve düşüncelerini tespit etmektir. Çalışmada, konu hakkında ayrıntılı bilgileri ve anlamları ortaya çıkarmak hedeflendiğinden nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim (fenomenoloji) deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı bir devlet okulunda öğrenim gören 21 kişilik 6. sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma grubundaki öğrencilerin konuyla ilgili düşüncelerini tespit etmek amacıyla uzmanlar tarafından belirlenmiş, varlık kadrosunda engelli hayvan bulunan 3 öykü ile 1 masal katılımcılara okutulmuştur. Ardından katılımcılardan 8 sorudan oluşan yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formunu doldurmaları istenmiştir. Çalışmada; elde edilen verileri çözümlemek, ihtiyaç duyulan kavramları ve ilişkileri belirlemek için içerik analizi yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler incelenmiş, veriler anlamlı bölümlere ayrıldıktan ve düzenlendikten sonra belirlenen temalar altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Daha sonra düzenlenen bu bilgiler tablolar hâlinde sunulmuş ve betimsel bir anlatımla yorumlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak katılımcı öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun okudukları eserleri beğendikleri, eserlerde katılımcıların dikkatini en çok çeken şeyin engelli hayvan karakterler olduğu görülmüştür. Katılımcıların çoğu engelli bir hayvana sahip olmak istemişlerdir. Bunun yanında katılımcıların tamamına yakını, eserde değişiklik yapma imkânı bulmaları hâlinde okudukları eserlerde yer alan engelli hayvan karakterleri veya onlara yapılan haksızlıkları değiştirmek istediklerini, bu bölümleri eserden çıkarma düşüncesinde olduklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğunun engelli hayvanlara karşı duyarlı oldukları, onları diğer hayvanlardan ayırmadıkları, onlara karşı önyargı beslemedikleri görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin eserlerde bu karakterlere odaklanmaları ve bu karakterlerin yer aldığı bölümleri eserden çıkarmak istemeleri veya onlara engelsiz hâlleriyle eserlerde yer vermek istemeleri, genel anlamda hayvan türüne besledikleri sevgiden ve şefkatten kaynaklanabileceği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to identify the opinions and opinions of 6th-class students about the characteristics of disabled animals included in children's books. In the study, the objective is to reveal detailed information and meanings about the subject and the quality research methods have been used by the phenomenology (fenomenology) design. The study’s work group consists of 21 6th-class students studying in a state school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Students in the study group have been taught by experts in order to identify their thoughts on the subject, with 3 stories of disabled animals in the creature staff with 1 fairy tale to the participants. The participants were then asked to fill out a structured interview form consisting of eight questions. In the study; the method of content analysis was preferred to analyze the obtained data, to determine the necessary concepts and relationships. The obtained data is studied, the data is classified under the topics determined after it is divided into meaningful sections and after it is edited. This information was subsequently presented in the tables and interpreted with an illustrative description. As a result, the majority of the participating students liked the works they read, the thing that attracted the attention of the participants in the works was the disabled animal characters. Most of the participants wanted to have a disabled animal. In addition, the participants have expressed that they want to change the character of the disabled animals in the works they read if they find the possibility of making changes in the work, or the injustice they have committed to, they are thinking of removing these sections from the work. The majority of the participants also found they were sensitive to disabled animals, they didn’t separate them from other animals, they didn’t feed prejudice against them. The conclusion is that students focus on these characters in their works and want to remove the parts of these characters from the work or want to put them in their works without obstacles can be derived from the love and compassion they feed the animal species in general.

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions and thoughts of 6th grade students about disabled animal characters in children's books. In the study, (phenomenology) design was used. The study group consisted of 21 6th grade students in a school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In the study, 3 stories and 1 fairy tale, which were determined by experts to determine the thoughts of the students, and which had disabled animals in their cast, were used. The participants were then asked to fill out a structured interview form consisting of 8 questions. Content analysis method was preferred to analyze the data obtained. After the analyzed data were divided into meaningful sections and organized, they were classified under the determined themes. This organized information was then presented in tables and interpreted descriptively. As a result, it was seen that the majority of the participants liked the works, what attracted their attention most in the works were the disabled animal characters and they wanted to have a disabled animal. In addition, almost all of the participants stated that if they had such a design, they would like to change the disabled animal characters in the works or the injustices done to them, and that they thought of removing these parts from the work. In addition, it was observed that the majority of the participants were sensitive to disabled animals, did not distinguish them from other animals, and did not harbor prejudice against them. It was concluded that the students' focus on these characters in the works and their desire to remove the parts in which these characters take place from the work or to include them in the works in their unhindered state may stem from the love and compassion they have for the animal species in general.
