Abstract:

    The 19th century is an era in which Ottoman Empire has been transformed in terms of governmental, social and economical and many other aspects and temettuat registries are important references that offer rich data related to the 19th century Ottoman rural life socio-economic studies. Temettuat registries are the registry books that were developed towards the mid 19th century in Ottoman empire in order to ascertain the income of the household. The most important purpose of these registries that offer considerable information about the Tanzimat Reform era was the identification of economical potential and making economical and financial regulations. In our study, with the data offered by the specified temettuat registries, we aimed to examine  the socio-economic structure of Antalya in that era and give more detailed information about the 19th century socio-economic structure of Ottoman Empire.
