Abstract:

This article is translated into Turkish from Bayard Dodge's study upon el-Fihrist which is The Fihrist, the book, which sheds light upon the thought, literary and science history till the last quarter of 4th century after Hegira, of al-Nadîm, with two volumes. One of classics which gone beyond its time and still learning importance by time with its contribution is al-Fihrist which is written by a remarkable man al-Nadîm. This paper analyzes al-Nadîm (380/990), who wrote a book that can be considered as the sunlight to world of first four centuries of Islamic civilization, and his book, which is omitted in its primary era but then gained huge importance and took the spotlight of all scholars, alFihrist [تسرهفلا]. And it contains elaborated and precious knowledge about al-Nadîm and his book al-Fihrist.
