Semâ ve Devran, sesli/cehri zikir metodunu kabul eden tarikatların uyguladığı ferdi veya toplu ayinlerdir. Semâ ve Devrana karşı olan âlimler, semâ ve devranın caiz olmadığını, müşrik ve heva ehli insanların yaptığı eğlence türü bir uygulama olduğunu iddia etmişlerdir. Hatta bu nedenle zâhir uleması ile mutasavvıflar arasında yazılı ve sözlü tartışmalar olmuş, hatta zâhir uleması ile sûfîler arasında süregelen ilmî tartışmalardan öte geçmiş zâhir ulemasının görüşlerinden kendilerine pay çıkaran bazı zümreler tasavvuf karşıtı tavırlar sergilemişlerdir. Bu durum karşısında değişik dönemlerde sûfî müellifler tasavvufî konuları savunan eserler ve risaleler yazmışlardır. Bunlardan biri de semâ ve devran savunması olan eser ve risalelerdir. Yaşadığı dönemi tam olarak tespit edemediğimiz Muhterem b. Mahmud Tokâdî devrân müdafaası kaleme alan müelliflerden biridir. Tokâdî bu risalesinde muarızlarına karşı devran müdafaası yapmış ve devran karşıtlarına cevaplar vermiştir. Biz bu makalemizde Tokâdî’nin devranı kabul etmeyenlerin itirazlarına cevap verdiği er-Risâle fî ibâhati'd-devrâni's-sûfîyye adlı risalesini tanıtmaya ve semâ ve devran konusundaki görüşlerini aktarmaya çalışacağız.

Mahmud et-Tokādī is one of the authors who wrote the defender of whirling dance (ṣūfī devran). We could not pinpoint the period he lived in. Muhterem b. Mahmud et-Tokādī defended the transferee against his opponents and gave answers to the opponents of the whirling dance (ṣūfī devran) in his treatise. In this article, we will try to introduce Muhterem b. Mahmud et-Tokādī’s ar-Risāla fī Ibāḥati'd-Devrāni's- Ṣufiyye, in which Mahmud et-Tokādī responded to the objections of those who did not accept the transfer, and to convey his views on the hearing (semā) and whirling dance (ṣūfī devrān).
