Abstract:

This study was carried out with the aim of providing an insight to basketball theses and dissertations include the 1985-2018 years period for individuals and future studies in basketball field in Turkey. During this study, the keyword of basketball was searched in the search part of YÖK electronic archive system to observed to find the dissertations on basketball in Turkey between the years of 1985-2018. As a result of the researches, a total of 304 studies were found, including 254 master's theses and 50 doctoral dissertations. Theses and dissertations on basketball were evaluated by considering their years, universities, topics, main topics, institutions, access situations, the title of consultant and total pages. SPSS 25 was used for data collection and analytics. At the first phase of the analysis, the postgraduate theses categorized with the distribution by years, distribution by universities, distribution by subject and main subjects were examined. Considering the distribution of postgraduate theses about basketball branch according to their subjects, 65.7% of master's theses and 66% of doctoral dissertations cover the studies on sports. In conclusion, basketball has been gathered around 16 different main themes and 25 different departments has carried out a dissertation around these themes.
