Abstract The objective of this investigation is to answer: how scientific journals are including the specificity of Physical Education as an area of studies and intervention? The research method is a combination of quantitative and qualitative study and the procedures were: (a) periodic survey of the Physical Education upper strata Qualis; (b) analysis of each journal title, searching for key words that characterize the specificity of the area; (c) word categorization in Semantic Fields (d) interpretation of the data in confront of the literature. The results indicates a predominance of scientific journals related to medical science in contrast to others area specificities. It is conclude that Qualis proposes an epistemological identity to Physical Education research. The area is reduced to medical and biological sciences references, which do not indicate Physical Education as integrative science, neither as a professional area of intervention or as a multidisciplinary characteristic.
