Özet:

Foundations of the Research: The following issues are evaluations as regards developments having emerged between the political power and UCCE during the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE and differences between the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE and the previous terms. Objective of the Research: The objective of the research is to put forward the relation between the political power and UCCE during the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE May 27, 1979- April 4, 1985 and the differences between the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE and the previous terms. Data Resources: The resources are newspaper, book and journal scanning and oral history works carried out with some parliamentarians. Main Discussion: The main discussions are the relation between the political power and UCCE during the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE and the differences between the presidential term of Mehmet Yazar at UCCE and the previous terms. Results: While the merchants’ section had been the dominant factor in the UCCE before Mehmet Yazar, the industrial section became dominant in UCCE with the presidency of Mehmet Yazar. Mehmet Yazar took the chair of UCCE as a representative of the industrialists’ section. During Mehmet Yazar’s presidency at UCCE, it is seen that UCCE became an impartial institution, improved so much as a pressure group and reached a significant economic power. During the period of military government having been established pursuant to September 12, UCCE functioned as an opposition party and made a mark on the economic precautions and all the steps taken. It is seen that there was a distance between UCCE and the Motherland Party during the ruling period of The Motherland Party having come into power with the elections of November 6, 1983 and the relations became tense. Foreign trade companies were established by Turgut Özal so as to reduce the power of UCCE.
