Sıcak ve soğuk uygulamalar, fizik tedavide çok kullanılan tedavi yöntemlerindendir. Geleneksel yöntemlerde, tedavi edici etkiyi sağlamak için doku sıcaklığı sıcak ve soğuk torbalar veya su havuzları ile belirli sıcaklık aralıklarında tutulmaya çalışılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, dokunun sıcaklığını, bilgisayardan girilen süre boyunca tedavinin uygulandığı sıcaklıkta tutmaya yarayan, bilgisayar kontrollü bir fizik tedavi cihazı tanıtılmıştır. Doku sıcaklığının değiştirilmesi için termoelektrik modüllerin kullanıldığı cihazda, sıcaklığın sabit tutulması için açkapa kontrol yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Cihazın klinik uygulamalarda kullanılıp kullanılamayacağını test etmek için geleneksel uygulama ile karşılaştırmalı deneyler yapılmıştır. Geliştirilen sistemle, hem sıcak hem de soğuk uygulama için, tedavi edici sıcaklık aralığına daha çabuk ulaşıldığı, sıcaklığın tedavinin geri kalanı boyunca belirlenen sıcaklık değeri çevresinde küçük bir dalgalanma ile (±0.5°C) sabit tutulabildiği görülmüştür. Sistemin, teknik açıdan klinik uygulamalara imkân verecek yapıda olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Sistemin klinikte kullanımı, hasta ve fizyoterapistler açısından çeşitli avantajlar sağlayabilecek, yeni araştırmaların önünü açabilecektir.

Abstract:

Hot and cold applications are one of the methods of treatment that are widely used in physical therapy. In traditional methods, to provide the healing effect, the tissue temperature is attempted to be kept in certain temperature intervals with hot and cold bags or water pools. In this study, a computer-controlled physical therapy device was introduced to keep the temperature of the tissue at the temperature in which the treatment was applied during the time it was entered from the computer. In the device where thermoelectric modules are used to change the fabric temperature, the opening control method has been applied to keep the temperature fixed. To test whether the device is used in clinical applications, comparative experiments with traditional applications have been conducted. With the developed system, for both hot and cold application, the therapeutic temperature range was achieved faster, the temperature was found to be stable with a small fluctuation (±0.5°C) around the temperature value determined throughout the rest of the treatment. The system has been concluded that it is in a structure that is technically capable of clinical applications. The use of the system in the clinic will be able to provide a variety of advantages for patients and physiotherapists, and will be able to open the front of new research.

Hot and cold applications are commonly used methods in physical therapy. In conventional methods; hot and cold bags or pools are used to keep tissue temperature within a certain temperature range to provide therapeutic effect. In this study, a computer controlled physical therapy device was introduced to keep the temperature of tissue at the treatment temperature during the period entered from the computer. In the device where the peltiers were used as the heat-changing elements, the on-off control method was applied to keep the temperature constant. In order to test whether the device can be used in clinical practice, comparative experiments with conventional practice have been conducted. It has been reached more quickly the therapeutic temperature range with the developed system at the both of hot and cold application. It has been observed that the temperature can be kept constant during the rest of the treatment with a small fluctuation (± 0.5°C) around the specified temperature value. It has been decided that the system is technically feasible in clinical applications. Clinical use of the system may provide various benefits for patients and physiotherapists and may open up new research.
