Abstract:

The first condition to be a good reader is to have a positive attitude. The development of the attitude towards reading is a long process that is a result of life and permanent learning. It is therefore necessary that the student, from a very early age, loves reading books and acquires the habit of reading books. The individual with a positive attitude towards reading, in addition to having a rich word treasure, is expected to have a conceived word treasure. Conceptualization is the creation of a new meaning, beyond the meaning a object or being represents, by the person charging a meaning to that object or being in accordance with his own perception. The aim of this study, where the karma method is used, is to determine the relationship between the class teacher candidates' conceptual skills and their attitudes towards reading. The research study group consists of 51 fourth-class students who study in the 2015-2016 educational year of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University School of Education Class Teaching in the Main Science Branch. In the study, the composition of the "window" subject was printed to students to identify conception skills, the data was analyzed by the method of content analysis. In order to determine their attitudes towards reading, students have been applied to the Reading Attitude Measurement developed by Silk-Untouched and Selfish (2015) . SPSS 20 for the purpose of identifying the relationship between the teaching skills of the classmates and their attitudes towards reading. Correlation analysis is done using the package program. The research finds that there is a positive relationship between class teacher candidates’ reading attitudes and understanding skills.
