Abstract:

This study has studied the effects of dominant personality characteristics in cartoons on children. In the study, the basic quality research design was used from the quality research models. The research study group consists of 30 students from the 3rd class students in Gaziantep or Shahinbey district. The study identified the cartoons that children prefer to watch and then the cartoons that were viewed to determine the effects of the characters in this cartoons on children. The most frequently viewed cartoon is the Teen Titans Go. The observations have begun from the first episode. In the framework of the study, there were 30 exhibitions. After the last episode, the discussions were held. Imaginary analysis is used for the analysis of data. According to the data obtained in the framework of the study, on the basis of the views of children and research observations of the Teen Titans Go cartoon, the impact of the cartoon on children’s social relationships, the perceptions of the cartoon and the attitudes towards the characters have been determined. The character the children most identified with them in the related cartoons was the lead character. It has been determined that the dominant character of children in the cartoon is affected by violent behaviors but they are not aware of the negative aspects of violence, and they show similar behaviors by finding these behaviors funny and fun. In addition, it is also found that the cartoon creates the team spirit in children. It has been determined that the cartoon enriched the word spread as a positive effect on children's language learning, and caused the use of argo-containing expression as a negative effect.

In this study, the effects of dominant personality traits on children were examined. Basic qualitative research method is used in the study. Research group consists 30 primary students who are at 3th class in Şahinbey, Gaziantep. In the study, the cartoon which students prefer most is determined, then the students have the certains parts watched to determine the effects of cartoon characters on them. It was seen that Teen Titans Go is the cartoon that the students wants to watch most. There are 30 episodes watched by the students during the research. After the last episode, interviews were conducted. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. According to data obtained during the research, based on the opinons of the students and the observation of the researcher, the effect of the cartoon or students social relationships, their perceptions for the cartoon and their attitudes toward to the cartoon character, that they identify with themselves most was the leading character. It's seen that students are affected by the violent-content scenes. However they are not aware of the negativity of the violence and they find them funny. In addition, it was found that the cartoon created a team spirit in children. It has not only a positive effect on students' language acquisition by enriching vocabulary but also a negative effect that students may use slang words.
