Abstract:

The aim of this study is to reveal the research trends of scientific publications that deal with the subject of health tourism by means of scientific maping technique. In this context, the Web of Science database, the most prestigious and appropriate database in terms of data analysis and scientific maping and bibliometric analysis, was used. 879 English articles, identified by a specific search strategy, included between the years 1997-2019, were analyzed using the R-based Bibliyometrix Program. In this bibliometric analysis, the most effective sources related to the subject of health tourism, writers, institutions, their cooperation and reference networks; maps of scientific production and cooperation of countries; dynamic word analysis related to documents, common reference networks and thematic development maps. This study reveals a scientific roadmap for all researchers interested in the subject of health tourism. In addition, the thematic and strategic development map of the subject is also an important source in terms of the study of research trends over the years.
