Abstract:

In this study, some factors considered to affect the choice of resources used as input in electricity production were selected and the impact of these factors on the source choice was assessed in the literature on the subject. In this context, the energy-environmental relationship and human health, the location choice, the characteristics of energy resources, renewable energy policy, energy security, economic and social factors and the impact of efficiency on the source choice have been studied. In the framework of the study, the approaches in the literature to the subject were studied and a synthesis of the approaches in question was created. The environmental impact of the source in the choice of resources and the external dependence on fossil fuels are the top elements today and are more on the agenda. However, due to technological developments, fossil energy resources will be needed in the future in terms of energy security, but the priority of renewable energy sources is necessary in terms of economic benefits and environmental protection. Therefore, it will be appropriate to analyze the subject from a comprehensive perspective where all factors and the specific situation of the country or region concerned are taken into account.
