Osmanlı eğitiminin modernleşmesi döneminde devletin kendi açtığı okulların yanında özel teşebbüslere de yer verilmiştir. Bu çerçevede İstanbul, İzmir, Bursa gibi şehirlerde varlıklı ve eğitim konusuna önem kişiler tarafından özellikle ilk ve orta okullar açılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu okullar halk tarafından rağbet görmüştür. Bu şehirler arasında İzmir’de açılmış olan pek çok okul eğitim tarihimizde yerini almıştır. İzmir’in ilk Türk özel okulu 1886 yılında faaliyete geçen Mekteb-i Terakki’dir. Mevcut okullar çeşitli sebeplerden ötürü Cumhuriyet dönemine gelememekle beraber bazıları yeni dönemde de devam edebilmiştir. Maarif Vekâleti İhsaiyat Mecmuası istatistiklerine göre İzmir’de Ravza-i İrfan, Darül’l-İrfan, Şemsü’l-Maarif ve Orhaniye adlı özel okulların Cumhuriyet sonrasında da eğitim faaliyetine devam ettiğini belirtmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı 1925-1926 ve 1926-1927 yılllarında İhsaiyat Mecmuası istatistiklerine göre İzmir’deki bu dört okulun kısa tarihçeleri, okulların genel özellikleri, ruhsat ve bina bilgileri, kütüphane ve demirbaş bilgileri, öğretmenlerin sayısı, nitelikleri, aldıkları maaşlar, okuldaki öğrencilerin durumu, okulun gelir ve giderlerini ortaya koymaktır. During the modernization of the Ottoman education, the state opened its own schools along with special efforts. In this framework, primary and secondary schools have been opened in cities such as Istanbul, İzmir, Bursa and rich and important in the subject of education. These schools have been seen by the public. Many of the schools opened in Izmir among these cities have taken their place in our history of education. The first Turkish private school in Izmir is the Mekteb-i Terakki, which was established in 1886. The existing schools could not come to the Republic period because of various reasons, but some could continue in the new period. According to the statistics of the Maarif Vekâleti İhsaiyat Mecmuası in İzmir, the private schools named Ravza-i Irfan, Darül'l-Irfan, Shemsü'l-Maarif and Orhaniye continue their educational activities after the Republic. The purpose of this study in the years 1925-1926 and 1926-1927 is to reveal the short history of these four schools in İzmir, the general characteristics of the schools, the license and building information, the library and railway information, the number of teachers, the qualifications, the wages they receive, the status of students in the school, the income and expenses of the school.
