Abstract:

Earthquakes caused by sudden tremors in the earth’s crust are particularly important for architecture and construction. Because every building that is destroyed or damaged due to earthquakes endangers human life and even causes loss of life to a great extent. However, every building that is resistant, reliable and built-in accordance with earthquake regulations and construction processes saves human life. Earthquakes cause social, psychological and economic effects on society, especially in the region where they occur. In particular, the trust in the home, which is the most basic unit of life, is questioned by the users, housing preferences, expectations, importance and priority in housing are changing. After the Kahramanmaraş centered earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023, and caused the loss of 45 thousand of people, these inquiries were started again. This study, it was aimed to determine the housing preferences, which is the most needed building unit in terms of architecture after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. A study was conducted with the participation of architecture students on what these preferences were before the earthquake and how they changed and shaped after the earthquake.
