Abstract:

Human effort to understand and interpret the universe is an important factor shaping culture. It is seen that behind everything that we regard as valuable and sacred today, there is an effort to make sense of it. Even a simple practice can be rooted in a mythological thought. Water is a substance that creates mystical thoughts in humans visually and structurally. Water has an undeniable role on the basis of the effort to perceive the world. For this reason, water is included in the creation stories of many societies. In the conception of the universe, water is cyclical and carrier. These two functions are the basis of all rituals, approaches and thoughts related to water. This thought, which has shaped the culture, has carried many discourses based on water until today. Spent without attention in daily life; huyu suyu, yüzü suyu, suyu sert/yumuşak, suyuna gitmek (Turkish idiom or phrase ). This idea is at the root of the statements. In addition, saliva, which is used in many applications in Anatolia, intersects with mythology in terms of its practitioner and purpose. In the study, the water-spit relationship, which takes place in many cultural elements, will be examined at the point of universe imagination and creation.
